Bike Brake Emergency Exit

One of the most important projects in the van was creating an emergency exit in the van. If you have a Ford Transit you will notice there is no way to access the back handle from the inside to open the doors in case of an emergency.

Since I sleep in my van, this was a problem. I found a video on YouTube of some man using a bike brake to create an emergency exit on a van. My uncle and I went straight to the junkyard to look for the perfect bike brake to add to the back door. 

We found a scooter and took the brake off. Then we took the plastic panel off the back door and connected it to the latch in the door and mounted the brake handle on the top of the door so that I could reach it from the bed. Another simple hack that make the van a lot safer.
