Stealth Camping In a City
Stealth camping is a great way to experience a new city while in a van or RV. Stealth camping comes with its own set of challenges but here are some tips from someone who spent a month stealth camping in Seattle.
Tips for stealth camping:
Find a nice spot to camp and be sure to look at road signs to make sure overnight parking is allowed. I look for places that are not directly in front of businesses or homes so that people don’t start to worry about someone camping too near to them.
Remain as self contained as possible. I typically keep my doors closed and window covers on when I am in a city.
Respect the area and abide by local laws and regulations.
Pack out your trash - make sure anything you are discarding is packed out and disposed of properly.
Visit local businesses
I personally do not prefer stealth camping because I find it difficult to keep the doors closed in the van (especially with a dog) but it is a great, cheap way to enjoy a new city!
