Manitoulin Islands

I spent my 31st birthday on a beach on an island in Canada in the tiny home on wheels I built and drove here.

After taking the ferry to the Manitoulin Island and showering in one of the free marina showers, I made my way to my spot for the next couple of weeks. Manitoulin Islands are the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature - there are so few people visiting and the towns are few and far between. I found a great camp spot and spent two weeks relaxing near the water, swimming, paddle boarding, and exploring.

Since getting to Canada, I have had issues with internet and getting logged on to work. For some reason the Tim Horton’s (very large Canadian coffee chain) wouldn’t let me get connected to their site and my hotspot was going through data so quickly! I resorted to working from the local libraries which was not ideal but hey, I’m in Canada so it’s all relative. In the mornings, I would get up and drive the 7 minutes into town from my beach spot and work during the day then head back in the afternoon.

Not everything goes smoothly on the road and the internet issues were NOT going smoothly. I decided that it was time to invest in Starlink (satellite internet) that works almost everywhere!

I’ll write a full review of Starlink once I get it up and running!
