Visiting Bruce Peninsula

Bruce Peninsula in Ontario is known for it’s picturesque blue waters that look like you should be in the Bahamas.

Bruce Peninsula is an area just south of the Manitoulin Islands in Ontario, Canada. It is a narrow peninsula and is VERY strict about overnight parking and tourists. There are almost zero places to park overnight here without the risk of getting a knock by the local authorities. Instead of risking it, I used hipcamp.com for the first time to find some land to park on. I found this cute little place on a farm hosted by Corey and Micah!

They had water, wifi, port a potty, picnic bench and chickens on the property! It was a wonderful place to use as my base for the weekend I spent on Bruce Peninsula.

From there, I was able to go to Lion’s Head Lookout. Pro tip, if you want to go some of the more popular places in the National Park be sure to make reservations! You have to reserve PARKING and cannot get on the lots without it. This is very different from the U.S. so be sure to look at the requirements ahead of getting to your location.

The hikes in the area are absolutely breathtaking and I had a lot of it all to myself. The area is a bit remote and requires a bit of a drive from the south OR a ferry ride and a couple hour drive from the north. If you go early in the day, you may just have the trail to yourself like I did!
