Hiking in Lake Superior Provincial Park

I overshot the trailhead for the trail I was planning to hike by 40 miles so I decided to hike Noisy Bay instead.

The trails in Lake Superior Provinical Park are less busy than the national parks but still offer a ton of great views.

A couple things I’ve learned recently. There are not Planet Fitness locations in a lot of the Ontario Province but there ARE a lot of provincial parks. Provincial parks are like State parks in Canada and they are so well maintained with staff that can help you navigate the area, lots of camping sites (if you choose to stay there), bathrooms, showers, and some even have laundry! If you buy an Ontario Provincial Park Pass, you can to go to all the provinical parks. This was a game changer for me while in Ontario.

Lake Superior National Park runs along the northern shore of Lake Superior and there are a couple of places with no facilities for MANY miles. Keep your eye out for markers about where the next services are - there is NOTHING out there. Likely more moose than people. It is absolutely stunning and there are a ton of trails that you can take through the area.

A lot of the trails are slick from the moisture of the lake, mossy, and have a lot of roots and rocks. Be prepared with thick sole boots or shoes, bring your swimsuit and enjoy the water!
